It was the year 2005. We had our hearts set on Brokeback Mountain, And Lee’s moody, memorable love story about two cowboys during a time in history when being gay could get you killed. There was so much about the movie to talk about – Heath Ledger’s brilliant performance, not to mention Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway. But this year was, for me, also about an important relationship in my life with journalist David Carr – a mentor who changed everything. Instead of talking about Brokeback Mountain, which I have done many times over the years, I spend more time on Carr.
After a long break getting back in the swing of things was not easy. So this episode is probably not the best. But I hope you enjoy it anyway.
