In 2009, Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win for Best Picture and Best Director for The Hurt Locker. It was also the year that the battle of exes raged on, with Bigelow’s Ex, Jim Cameron also in the race with Avatar. It was the year of Inglourious Basterds, Precious, An Education and Up in the Air.
